Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC)

At S.R.M. College of Education, we are committed to ensuring that every stakeholder has the right to be heard in a fair, safe, and impartial environment. The Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) provides a structured mechanism to address academic, administrative, and personal grievances, in alignment with UGC (Grievance Redressal) Regulations, 2012 (amended 2023), within a time-bound and transparent framework.

1. Scope and Applicability

The grievance redressal system is available to all members of the college community, including:

  • Current and former students
  • Teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Parents and guardians
  • Alumni
  • Visitors or individuals engaged in legitimate interactions with the college

Grievances may pertain to academic, administrative, infrastructural, behavioral, or service-related issues, as well as suggestions for institutional improvement. All stakeholders are encouraged to use the system responsibly and respectfully.

2. Objectives of the Committee
  • Establish a formal, transparent, and impartial grievance handling mechanism.
  • Ensure timely and fair resolution of complaints.
  • Safeguard the rights, dignity, and welfare of all stakeholders.
  • Address grievances within 30 working days, as per UGC norms.
  • Maintain a harmonious academic and administrative environment.
  • Invite constructive suggestions for institutional improvement.
  • Raise awareness about grievance channels and stakeholder rights.

4. Functions of the Committee
  • Receiving Complaints & Suggestions: Stakeholders can submit grievances via email, online portal, written forms, or complaint boxes.
  • Scrutiny & Registration: The Coordinator logs and categorizes each grievance (academic, administrative, infrastructural, etc.).
  • Urgency Marking: Complainants may indicate if the grievance is urgent or regular.

    • Urgent grievances are reviewed immediately by the Chairperson and Coordinator.
    • Regular grievances are addressed in scheduled semester meetings.

  • Hearings: All concerned parties are given equal opportunity to present their case.
  • Resolution: Committee recommends corrective or disciplinary actions and ensures follow-up.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Records are maintained confidentially, with quarterly and semester summaries submitted to the Principal and Governing Body.
  • Review & Feedback: Feedback may be invited from the complainant to confirm resolution satisfaction.
  • Meeting Schedule: Regular meetings are held once per semester, with emergency meetings convened if required.
  • Time Frame: Grievances are generally resolved within 30 working days, except in cases requiring extended investigation or external review.

7. Awareness and Capacity Building
  • Orientation sessions for new students and staff.
  • Display of policy posters and grievance boxes at strategic campus locations.
  • Uploading manuals, forms, and reports on the college website.
  • Conducting training and sensitization workshops on grievance handling, ethical practices, and conflict resolution.
8. Confidentiality and Ethics
  • All grievances are treated with strict confidentiality.
  • No stakeholder shall face retaliation or discrimination for submitting a grievance in good faith.
  • Records and communications are securely maintained as per institutional policy.
